Job Readiness Workshops to be Held Prior to Regional Job Fair

GADSDEN – The Alabama Career Center System will host a series of job readiness workshops beginning Monday, June 19 and continuing through Friday, June 23 at Career Centers located throughout northeast Alabama.

Staff from several area Career Centers will conduct the four-hour training, which will cover topics like résumé preparation, interview skills, how to “dress for success,” and soft skills such as timeliness and proper communication skills. Workshop participants will receive a Certificate of Participation that they can present to employers at the job fair. Veteran specific training will be provided.

The workshop is free and open to all who are interested, but registration is strongly encouraged. For specific addresses, more information, or to register, please call the Career Centers as listed on the attached flier. All participants will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card, provided by The Chamber, Gadsden & Etowah County.

The schedule of workshops is below:
Monday, June 19 at the Anniston Career Center
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (June 21-23) at the Gadsden Career Center
Wednesday and Thursday (June 21-22) at the Talladega Career Center

The workshop is to help area jobseekers prepare for a regional job fair to be held in Gadsden on June 27 at 210 at the Tracks. The job fair is being sponsored by the Alabama Career Center System / Department of Labor, WBRC Fox 6 News, and the City of Gadsden.

“We’re glad to be able help local jobseekers polish their skills so that they will be more marketable to employers,” said Fitzgerald Washington, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Labor. “The first impression is so important when looking for a job, and these workshops will help jobseekers prepare to make a great one!”

Employers looking to participate in the job fair and jobseekers looking to attend can register online at The event is free to both jobseekers and employers. There are currently more than 60 employers registered and nearly 1,500 available jobs.

The job readiness workshop and the regional job fair are part of the efforts of the Alabama Workforce Council to foster collaboration between government, industry, and education. The Region 2 Council is made up of the following counties: Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Talladega, Clay, and Randolph.
